About
Aleyah Solomon is a professional photographer and licensed drone pilot from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. She graduated from NSCAD University in 2008 with a degree in Photography. It is here that she discovered her love for storytelling by combining her love of photojournalism with fashion and portraiture. Describing her work as cinematic and conceptual portraiture, each image presents not just the visual content you see, but very specific moments of time. Because she shoots on location using natural lighting –similar to photojournalists, being ready and confident with various lighting and weather situations is key. “To create an image isn’t just to take a photo of a place or person, but to experience the moment and acknowledge everything that surrounds you, both physically and emotionally.”

Crediting artists like Richard Avedon, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Martin Parr, Cindy Sherman and Irving Penn as inspiration for her work, she often looks to their works to inspire and stir emotion and motivation within herself.
Based in Chattanooga, Tennessee USA since March 2023, other notable projects and achievements include co-founding Here & There Magazine in 2015, where her roles include creative director and head photographer. She has freelanced for other magazines and clients such as NUVO Magazine, Suitcase Magazine and has worked with various designers such as Token Paris, Sid Neigum, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac and Sentaler, to name a few. Aleyah has attended many fashion weeks in Toronto, New York, Paris and London, shooting runway and backstage.
An upcoming travel project will take her on the road with her rescue dog, Winnie, to explore parts of America which will include land imagery as well as aerial views.
